Alexandra’s Rip Current Awareness 5K

The Alexandra’s Rip Current Awareness 5K is a community sports event held in Southampton, New York. The event features a single distance:

  • 5 km (3.1 miles)

The course is USA Track and Field certified. It is described as a fast and flat route that takes participants through tree-lined residential streets surrounding Lake Agawam. To support runners during the race, split times and water stations are provided at every mile marker. The event takes place rain or shine, starting and finishing near the Southampton Cultural Center and Agawam Park.

Participants receive several amenities, including finisher medals for everyone who completes the course and free finish line photos. Those who register at least three weeks before the race receive a personalized bib with their name on it. T-shirts are also provided to participants who register by the mid-May deadline. The atmosphere includes a DJ and raffles for attendees.

Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as the top male and female in the masters category. Divisional awards are also given to the top three finishers in various age groups, ranging from 10 and under to 85 and older.
