AKT Summer 5K/10K : Mount Vernon Trail, July 4, 2026
This event offers two self timed out and back race distances along the Mount Vernon Trail near the Mount Vernon Estate and George Washington Memorial Parkway. It is presented as a non-competitive, family-friendly fundraiser; all proceeds support the Samuel Kwarteng Memorial Scholarship.
Participants are responsible for tracking their own start and finish times. Packet pickup and waiver signing occur at the trail start and are required before participation. A bag drop will be available near the start and finish; items are left at the owner’s risk. T-shirts, race bibs, and medals are provided to participants. T-shirts are guaranteed for registrations received before June 26; additional shirts may be available but are not guaranteed and must be picked up in person.
Parking is available in a small designated lot at the trailhead on a first-come, first-served basis. Overflow street parking is available on East Abingdon Drive and Slaters Lane within walking distance; participants should check posted time restrictions.
In case of severe weather organizers will notify registered participants and post updates on social media. Otherwise the event is planned to proceed as scheduled.

- 5K - out and back, approximately 5 kilometers, turnaround at Cedar Knoll.
- 10K - out and back, approximately 10 kilometers, turnaround at Collingwood Picnic Area.
