Akron Trail Marathon - July 11, 2026
The Akron Trail Marathon is a trail event in Akron, Ohio offering a marathon, half marathon, and 10K that use local urban and park trails. The race starts at the Memorial Parkway trailhead, runs briefly into the city, then follows the locks and heads north on the Towpath before moving onto the Summit Metro Parks trails along the Cuyahoga River. A proposed full marathon route is pending final approval.
Distances
- Marathon: over 2,000 feet of gain.
- Half Marathon: mix of crushed limestone trail, rugged hills, and a hilly road section.
- 10K: about 4 miles of crushed limestone trail and 2 miles of rugged hills.
Organizers plan roughly 6 to 8 water stops on the marathon route, 3 to 4 on the half marathon, and 1 on the 10K. Water and sports drink will be available; snacks are planned at the Oxbow aid station for half and full distances. Participants are advised to carry a handheld water bottle due to likely hot and humid mid-July conditions. The course has fewer water stops than a typical road course.
Awards are given to first and second overall male and female in each distance, plus masters male and female in each distance. All finishers receive medals. Price includes medal and t-shirt; guaranteed t-shirt size cutoff is June 14. Registration opens approximately January 30, 2026 and closes July 9, 2026 at 11:59 PM ET. Packet pickup details are to be determined. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
