Akron Trail Marathon
The Akron Trail Marathon takes place in Akron, Ohio and centers on trails near the Memorial Parkway trailhead. The event uses a mix of city out and back sections and regional park trails through Summit Metro Parks.
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 10 K
The course follows the historical locks out of downtown and then heads north on the Towpath Trail. It includes sections that pass the Mustill Store and waterfalls. Organizers are reworking the route; it is expected to continue to include Schumacher Trail, the overlook, and Oxbow Trail and to add additional trail sections.
Water support is more limited than on a typical road race. Planned water stop counts are about 6 to 8 on the marathon route, 3 to 4 on the half marathon, and 1 on the 10 K. Water, sports drink, and gels will be available at stops, with snacks provided at the halfway aid station for full and half distances. Runners are advised to carry a handheld bottle since mid July conditions are likely to be hot and humid. Event staff plan to minimize single use cups to reduce environmental impact.
Awards are given to first and second overall male and female in each distance and to masters male and female in each distance. All finishers receive a medal. Price includes a medal and t shirt, with a guaranteed t shirt size cutoff on June 14. Packet pickup is to be determined. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
