Akahai Half Marathon
Akahai is a race day on Saturday, January 16, 2027, held at Wai Kai near Nimitz Beach in Ewa Beach, Oahu. The event offers three distances and courses described as flat and fast with views of the Hoakalei Country Club, Ernie Els signature golf course, and the Leeward Coast.
Distances:
- 5K: 100% asphalt
- 10K: 81% asphalt, 12% asphalt with adjacent soft surface, 7% concrete
- Half Marathon: 38% asphalt, 58% asphalt with adjacent soft surface, 4% concrete
Courses are measured at least three times for accuracy. Aid stations are frequent, averaging about one mile apart, and provide first aid, water, electrolytes, and sometimes energy products. Timing uses disposable chips and electronic results with downloadable finisher photos at no extra cost. Finishers receive custom medals and cooling towels; shirts and post race meals are optional add ons and personalized bibs are available for those who meet the advance deadline.
Additional on course and event services include gear check, medical support, multiple porta potties, and prizes for overall and age division places. The event benefits the Hawaii Parkinson Association, which supports research, education, support groups, and financial aid programs.
