Age-Graded 4-Miler
The Age-Graded 4-Miler is a running race held on July 4, 2026 in West Bethesda, Maryland, across the Clara Barton Parkway from 9500 MacArthur Blvd. The primary distance is 4 miles. The event is part of the DCRRC Bunion Derby series.
Start times are staggered and determined by a runner's age and gender using specialized handicap tables based on age-group records. The winner is the first person to cross the finish line; official results also show chip times.
The course runs over a narrow shared path used by walkers, cyclists and others. Participants are asked to share the trail and to slow in crowded conditions. Dogs are not allowed on the course. The organizing club discourages the use of headphones. Park Service rules prohibit registration on race day; registration opens on 2026-03-23 and closes on 2026-07-03. The listed registration fee is $10.00.
All participants receive prizes. Runners are encouraged to contribute used items to the prize pool; past prizes have included vintage baseball cards, a Simpsons dart board, a New Guinean sheath and fruit pies offered in commemoration of the nation’s birthday. The event relies on volunteers to support race operations. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
