Afterlife 5K
The Afterlife 5K is a Halloween-themed run/walk held on the Nathan Chapman Memorial Trail and at the Heritage Recreation Center in Pierce County, Washington on October 17, 2026. The event features costume-friendly atmosphere and a unique medal selection at the finish, where participants choose a medal "from races gone by."
The paved course passes through forested wetlands and parkland. It begins at the Heritage Recreation Center, circles the baseball fields, then heads south onto the Nathan Chapman Memorial Trail for a large counterclockwise loop through South Hill Park. The route returns on the trail through forested wetlands, moves toward the lower soccer fields at the recreation center, proceeds north along 94th Avenue, then west through the lower parking lot adjacent to Zeiger Elementary, and finishes between fields 2 and 3 inside the sports complex. The surface includes flat sections and gentle slopes.
The event is not chip timed and is not USATF certified; a finish-line timing clock will display overall time. Registration options include pre-registration at a fee of $15 per person with a deadline of October 11, 2026 or until full, and day-of registration at a fee of $20 per person. Day-of registration is available at the check-in area. Parking is available at the Heritage Recreation Center via the 128th Street entrance.
