City of Newport Half Marathon
The KLA City of Newport Half Marathon is a road race of 13.1 miles through the City of Newport and the historic village of Caerleon. The route runs along the River Usk and passes city landmarks including the Riverfront, the SDR Bridge, Clarence Place, Newport Bridge, Caerleon Road, the Riverfront Building and the Millennium Bridge, finishing behind the University building.
The event supports St David’s Hospice Care and the proceeds are used to fund hospice services across Southeast Wales and Lower Powys. The race has attracted over 2,500 runners and organisers report more than £766,874 raised for the hospice since 2013.
Race administration and facilities include chip timing and a bespoke finishers medal. The event is licensed under UKA rules, which prohibit in-ear headphones on single carriageway roads that are not wholly closed to traffic; bone conduction headphones are acceptable. Entrants who registered before 15 February 2027 will receive a posted race pack containing final information and their race number with timing chip. Late entrants collect numbers at registration in the University Campus building. Transfers of entries are permitted up to 23:59 on 15 February 2027.
Support facilities include limited baggage storage at Race HQ, and water stations and toilets near Miles 3, 6, 9, 12 and at the finish. City centre car parks including Friars Walk, Kingsway and NCP are available, with some accesses from the south only. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
