City of Newport Half Marathon

The City of Newport Half Marathon takes place on 1 March 2026 and is sponsored by KLA. The route runs through the heart of the City of Newport and the historic village of Caerleon, following sections of river Usk pathways and passing through the city centre. The event supports St David’s Hospice Care; proceeds are used to fund hospice services in the local community.

All finishers receive a bespoke medal. Finisher t-shirts are optional at registration to reduce waste; participants may decline a t-shirt and donate the cost to St David’s Hospice Care. The event includes category prizes and operates as a licensed race under UKA rules.

The UKA licence includes a ban on in-ear headphones on single carriageway roads that are not wholly closed to traffic; bone conduction devices that do not sit in the ear are noted as acceptable under the UKA guidance. Entry options include affiliated and unaffiliated tiers, early-bird and seasonal pricing windows, and charity places for St David’s Hospice Care. Event headquarters is listed at the University of Wales Newport Campus, Usk Way, Newport NP20 2BP.

The event has previously attracted over 2,500 runners and the organising effort has raised more than £643,000 for St David’s Hospice Care since 2013. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
