Rockin' Summer 5k, 10k, 15k, Half Marathon : Whittier Narrows, South El Monte
The Rockin' Summer event offers four distances at Whittier Narrows Recreation Area on July 19, 2026: 5k, 10k, 15k, and half marathon. The course uses the park trail as an open course with marked out-and-back loops and is shared with pedestrians, runners, and cyclists.
Course formats:
- 5k out-and-back route
- 10k two 5k loops
- 15k three 5k loops
- half marathon three 4.36-mile out-and-back loops
An aid station is located at the turnaround near the start/finish and supplies water cups, water bottles, Gatorade cups, and GU gels. Course maps and route details are provided by the organizer. The half marathon has a 3:15 time limit; an early start may be arranged if additional time is needed.

Parking at Whittier Narrows Recreation Area has a fee; discounted parking is available for people 65 and over and for disabled drivers.
