Sun and Summit at Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area
Sun and Summit takes place on Sunday, August 9, 2026 at Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area, 4200 La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90008. The event uses marked out and back loops on park trails and is described as easy to follow.
Distances offered:
- 5k out and back route
- 10k two 5k loops
- 15k three 5k loops
- Half marathon three 4.36 mile out and back loops
The course surface includes paved sections and long stretches of hard packed dirt and gravel. The route includes a steep hill of about 0.25 miles with views from the top. The course is open to park users and participants should be courteous to pedestrians, runners and cyclists. An aid station at the turnaround provides water cups, water bottles, Gatorade cups and Gu gels. The half marathon has a 3 hour 15 minute time limit; earlier starts may be arranged by contacting the organizer.
Registration options include PayPal and Active.com; PayPal registrations are followed by an email within about 12 hours to finalize registration. The event lists early bird, race month and race day pricing and notes a no refund policy. Included with registration are a custom finisher medal, a drawstring goodie bag, free photos and videos, posted results within 12 to 24 hours, and an assortment of snacks and samples.
