Event Overview
The Race for Education is an annual community event held in the City of Paramount. This gathering combines athletic events with a Health and Wellness Fair, featuring wellness resources, fitness activities, and various giveaways. The event takes place at Paramount Park, with the start line for all distances located at the intersection of Paramount Blvd. and 3rd St.
The event serves as a fundraiser for the Paramount Education Partnership (PEP) Scholarship. Proceeds from registrations and donations are used to support scholarships for local students.
Course and Distances
Participants can choose between two main distances:
- 5K Run & Walk: A USATF Certified course.
- 1K Fun Run: A non-timed event.
The courses are accessible to a variety of participants. Strollers and wagons are permitted but must start at the back of the corral. Dogs are also allowed on the course provided they remain on a leash at all times. For safety reasons, skates and bicycles are prohibited.
Participant Information
All registered participants receive a race medal and an event t-shirt, though t-shirts are not guaranteed for late registrations. The 1K event features a different medal than the 5K. Water stations are positioned along the route to provide hydration.
Free parking is available for attendees at the Bianchi Theatre, located across from Paramount Park. On-site restrooms are provided for participant convenience. While headphones are permitted, organizers advise participants to remain aware of their surroundings during the run. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
