Sun and Summit 5k, 10k, 15k, Half Marathon
The event takes place on August 9, 2026 at Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area in Los Angeles. It is organized by ABWR and offers multiple distance options on park trails. Registration includes finisher medals, drawstring goodie bags, free photos and videos, and on-site snacks and samples. Results are posted on the organizer's website within 12 to 24 hours after the event. The organizer states there are no refunds and no unauthorized participants.
The course is an open route on shared park paths with marked out and back loops. Surfaces include dirt, some grass, and pavement. The route includes a steep hill of about 0.25 miles. An aid station at the turnaround by the start and finish provides water cups, bottled water, Gatorade cups, and Gu gels. Participants are asked to be courteous to pedestrians, other runners, and cyclists on the shared path.
Parking at Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area is $10 per vehicle, with discounts for seniors, disabled visitors, and veterans. Nearby parking lots include the Swings area, Picnic Area, and the lot across from the visitor center. Group discounts for five or more participants are available through the organizer.
