Above the Clouds 5K : Chesapeake, VA
SPARC presents the fourth annual Above the Clouds 5K, held in honor of an individual and intended to raise awareness for brain cancer. The event takes place along the Dismal Swamp Canal Trail in Chesapeake, Virginia, and includes in-person and virtual options plus a short youth race.
Distances and formats:
- 5K in-person timed event with prizes and finisher items
- 5K Virtual participants receive race shirt and finisher medal by mail
- 100 yard dash for children with a special completion award
A portion of registration fees will be donated to www.braintumor.org, an organization that supports research, treatment development, and advocacy for patients and caregivers. Registrations open on February 16, 2026 and close on May 6, 2026. Fees listed are $45 for the 5K and virtual 5K, and $15 for the kids 100 yard dash. Registrations completed before May 6 include an early registration discount and a guaranteed shirt size; later registrants may not be guaranteed preferred sizing.
Packet pickup is scheduled the day before the event at DICK's House of Sport in Chesapeake. There is no day-of-race packet pickup. After the event, food will be available for purchase from Flippin' Hangry and Bear House Coffee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
