Abersoch Triathlon

The Menai Holiday Cottages Abersoch Triathlon is an annual triathlon in Abersoch, a seaside town in North Wales. The event includes Olympic and Sprint race options and marks its tenth edition in 2026. Both main distances sold out in 2025.

The race starts with a sea swim in Abersoch's sheltered bay. The bike uses a 20 km lap that is completed once for the Sprint and twice for the Olympic, with sections closed to traffic. The run combines beach, trail and road terrain and both main races finish on Abersoch Beach.

Distances:

Olympic: 1500 m swim, 40 km bike, 10 km run
Sprint: 750 m swim, 20 km bike, 5 km run

Additional event features include a 1 km beach race for young runners and a paddleboard run held in aid of Move Against Cancer. A Dual in the Crown option allows participants to attempt both main distances in one day and earn a commemorative mug. Organiser-provided race support, medals and a prize fund are part of the event.
