Aberdeen Proving Ground Run To Honor 5K
The Aberdeen Proving Ground Run To Honor 5K is an annual event organized by Aberdeen Proving Ground Survivor Outreach. The race serves to honor the surviving family members of fallen service members. The event features both in-person and virtual participation options.
The available distances for this event include:
- 5K
- Virtual 5K
The live race takes place on an out-and-back course on the Aberdeen Proving Ground. The route begins near the intersection of Aerospace Road and Founders Street, leading participants out to the Legacy Forest with a turnaround at the Monument. The in-person event is professionally timed and limited to the first 500 participants across both categories.
Participants receive several amenities, including a custom designed long-sleeved hoody, a finishers medal, and a race bag. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers in various categories, ranging from age groups 9 and under to 70 and over.
For the live event, parking is provided in the lot adjacent to the start and finish area, accessible via the Bayonet Road entrance. Visitors must follow specific base entry requirements, including presenting identification and vehicle registration to obtain a visitor's pass. Virtual participants must complete their distance and submit results within a specified three-day window to be included in the official virtual standings.
