Abbott Chicago 5K : Event information
The Abbott Chicago 5K takes place on Saturday, October 10, 2026, with the race located in Grant Park, Chicago, IL. The course is 3.1 miles and winds through downtown past several Chicago landmarks. An Abbott Health and Fitness Expo with packet pick-up is held at McCormick Place on the two days before the race.
A limited packet mailing option is available to U.S. residents for a fee of $25; this includes the event bib number and a promotional item and must be selected by the posted deadline. All participants are assigned to start corrals based on projected pace per mile; runners may move back to a slower corral as space allows. Timing checkpoints are positioned at the start and finish lines, clocks and mile markers display elapsed race time.
Gear check is not available; participants are responsible for storing personal items offsite. One on-course aid station is located near the halfway point and will provide water, medical support and toilet facilities. Runners must maintain a 15 minute per mile pace and complete the full 5K within the event time requirement of 45 minutes and 59 seconds to be recorded as official finishers and to receive full on-course support.
Public transportation is recommended for race day. The event will affect street closures and parking access in the course area. The race offers an Adaptive Program for athletes with permanent intellectual or physical impairments. Finisher medals can be personalized with an iTAB, which is mailed after the race. The event supports the charity Tedy's Team with a two dollar donation for each participant who crosses the finish line. Abbott is listed as a partner of the event.
