Abbott Chicago 5K
The Abbott Chicago 5K is a city road race held in Grant Park, Chicago, on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The course covers 5K (3.1 miles) through downtown and passes several Chicago landmarks. Timing checkpoints are positioned at the start and finish lines, and mile markers and digital clocks provide elapsed race time.
Registration for the 2026 event reached capacity and is closed. A limited packet mailing option was available to U.S. residents for a fee; that option included shipment of the event bib and a promotional item and had a purchase deadline of Thursday, August 6.
All participants are assigned to start corrals based on projected pace per mile; participants may move back to a slower corral as space allows. Bib numbers must be worn visibly on the front, secured with four pins, kept unaltered, and filled out on the back with emergency contact and medical information. Bib numbers are non transferable and resale or transfer is prohibited.
Gear check is not available. One on-course aid station, located near the halfway point, offers water, medical support, and toilet facilities. Runners must maintain a 15 minute per mile pace and complete the course within the event time requirement of 45 minutes 59 seconds to receive official recognition and full on-course support.
The event provides an Adaptive Program for athletes with permanent intellectual or physical impairment and uses a color coded Event Alert System to communicate race conditions. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
