A Revolutionary Celebration Run

A Revolutionary Celebration Run is a community athletic event held at East Jersey Old Town Village in Piscataway. The event takes place on the 4th of July and serves as the opening activity for local holiday celebrations. Participants run on a course consisting of paved roads and paths within the historic village and Johnson Park. The route for the primary distance involves two loops of an out-and-back course along Johnson Drive, which is closed to vehicular traffic during the event.

The setting, East Jersey Old Town Village, features a collection of historic structures from the 1700s and 1800s. These buildings represent various architectural styles from across the Raritan Valley in Middlesex County. The event provides a tour of the park grounds as runners pass through these restored historical sites.

The following distances are available:

  • 5 km (Freedom 5k)
  • 1 Mile Fun Run and Walk

All participants in the 5 km distance are chip timed, and registration for this event is limited to 250 people. Participants receive a race shirt, a finisher medal, and access to free race photos. Awards are presented to the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as winners in age group categories divided by 10-year intervals. Following the run, attendees can access food vendors, live 18th-century music, and patriotic concerts on the lawn. A free shuttle service is also available to transport visitors between historic sites. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
