Event overview

A Midsummer Night's Run 5K is an annual downtown Lexington, Kentucky race presented by CHI Saint Joseph Health. The event includes a 5K Run/Walk, the Fastest Kid In Town races for ages 2 to 12, a Virtual Runner/Walker option, and volunteer opportunities. Race features listed by the organizer include commemorative race T-shirts, free race photos, team pricing (teams of five or more save $5 per person), a DJ, and food trucks. RaceRise provides chip timing for all runners; chipped bibs should be worn on the front torso.

Course, logistics and awards

The 5K course starts and finishes on Short Street between the two courthouses at the Robert F. Stephens Courthouse Plaza (120 N Limestone Street). The route runs east on Short Street, turns onto Elm Tree, continues on East Main Street with a 180 degree turnaround at Bassett Avenue, then returns via Martin Luther King and Short Street to the finish. There is one hydration station on East Main Street that participants pass twice. The course elevation change is 154 feet. Awards are given to the top three overall male and female finishers and to top three male and female in standard age groups; overall top 3 awards are based on gun time.

Packet pickup and charity

Packet pickup is offered at CHI Saint Joseph Health and at Academy Sports + Outdoors, with an additional prerace pickup at the courthouse plaza for out-of-town participants. No credentials or ID are required to pick up packets for others. Race donations support the CHI Saint Joseph Hospital Foundation’s Yes, Mamm!, Yes, Cerv! program, which provides free mammography screening and diagnostic services to uninsured or underinsured people.
