A Force Against Cancer 5K
A Force Against Cancer 5K is a community run and walk held at Schoolhouse Park in Centerville-Washington Park district. The event supports the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network; 100% of registration fees are donated to that organization. The primary distance offered is 5K (3.1 miles).
Participants run or walk to raise money for pancreatic cancer research and patient support. The event includes food and awards after the race. An early packet pick up is scheduled for Saturday, October 24 at Up and Running on Far Hills Avenue, and day-of registration is available at Schoolhouse Park on October 25.
Organizers note that the event has helped raise over $134,000 for the cause. The event materials also highlight information about pancreatic cancer outcomes, including a reported increase in the five-year survival rate to 13 percent, a rise of 7 percent over the past decade, and a statement that the Know Your Tumor program can help patients live longer.
The event is sponsored by the IUE-CWA and takes place at Schoolhouse Park, 1875 Nutt Rd, Centerville, OH 45458. The listed registration fee is $25.00. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
