9/11 Run to Remember 5K
The 9/11 Run to Remember 5K is a community memorial event in Downtown Cartersville, Georgia, commemorating the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks. The event is produced in conjunction with the Cartersville Fire Department and Cartersville Police Department and includes a pre-race program with a presentation of the colors by the Fire Department Honor Guard.
The course begins and finishes in Friendship Plaza adjacent to the Downtown Gazebo and follows neighborhood streets through central Cartersville. The route runs along Cherokee Avenue and Erwin Street, continues onto Cassville Road to the entrance of Cartersville Fire Department Station #1, passes through the station area, and returns to Friendship Plaza for the finish. Race day parking is available in and around the Bartow County Courthouse.
Registration options include a pre-race registration fee of $30 and a race day fee of $40; pre-registration is open through September 7 to guarantee a T-shirt size and the reduced rate. A "GHOST RUNNER" option is offered for supporters who cannot attend in person but wish to support the cause and receive a T-shirt.
Pre-race packet pick-up is scheduled for Friday, September 11 at Big Peach Running Co., 402 E. Church St., Suite 107, Cartersville. Awards are given to top overall finishers, masters, and age-group placings. Proceeds benefit the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation. The event is held rain or shine.
