9/11 Run to Remember 5K
The 9/11 Run to Remember is a community 5K held in downtown Cartersville, Georgia on September 12, 2026. The event marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks and is produced in conjunction with the Cartersville Fire Department and the Cartersville Police Department. A pre-race program includes a presentation of the colors by the Cartersville Fire Department Honor Guard.
Event options include the in-person 5K race and a separate Ghost Runner option for those who wish to support the cause without attending on race day. Pre-registration opens February 15, 2026 and closes September 7, 2026; pre-race registration is listed at $30 and race day registration at $40. Registrations received by the pre-registration deadline are eligible to guarantee a T-shirt size.
The course starts and finishes at Friendship Plaza in downtown Cartersville and follows local streets, including Cherokee Avenue, Erwin Street and Cassville Road. The route passes through Cartersville Fire Department Station #1, uses the station parking lot as part of the loop, and returns to Friendship Plaza. Race day parking is described as available near the Bartow County Courthouse.
Awards are planned for top overall and masters finishers plus multiple age-group categories. Proceeds benefit the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
