9/11 Run to Remember 5K
The 9/11 Run to Remember 5K is a community running event in downtown Cartersville, Georgia, held as a 25th Anniversary commemoration of the September 11, 2001 events. The event is produced in conjunction with the Cartersville Fire Department and the Cartersville Police Department. Pre-race presentation of the colors will be offered by the Cartersville Fire Department Honor Guard as part of a program of remembrance.
The course starts and finishes in Friendship Plaza adjacent to the downtown gazebo and follows a loop through Cherokee Avenue, Erwin Street, and Cassville Road. The route passes through the entrance of Cartersville Fire Department Station 1 and circles the station parking area before returning to Friendship Plaza. Race day parking is available in and around the Bartow County Courthouse.
Registration options include a pre-race fee of $30 and a race day fee of $40; pre-registration by September 7 guarantees a T-shirt size. There is a Ghost Runner option for supporters who wish to contribute and receive a T-shirt without attending in person. Pre-race packet pick-up is scheduled the day before the race at Big Peach Running Co. of Cartersville.
Proceeds from the event benefit the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation. Awards will be presented to overall and masters top finishers and to top finishers across standard age groups. The event proceeds regardless of weather. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
