9/11 Run to Remember 5K
The 9/11 Run to Remember 5K is an annual running event held in downtown Cartersville, Georgia. The 2026 edition marks the 6th year of the race and serves as a remembrance for the 25th anniversary of the events of September 11. The event is produced in collaboration with the Cartersville Fire Department and the Cartersville Police Department to honor the efforts of first responders.
The race follows a route that starts and finishes at Friendship Plaza, adjacent to the Downtown Gazebo. A significant feature of the course is the turnaround point at Cartersville Fire Department Station #1. Participants run through a fire truck bay at the station, where they are supported by local firefighters before returning toward the finish line. Parking for the event is available at the Bartow County Courthouse.
Available event categories include:
- 9/11 Run to Remember 5K
- 9/11 Run to Remember - GHOST RUNNER (remote participation option)
The race program includes a pre-race presentation of the colors by the Cartersville Fire Department Honor Guard. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, top masters, and the top three finishers in various age groups ranging from 10-under to 70 and over. Proceeds from the event benefit the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation. The race takes place rain or shine. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
