9/11 Run to Remember 5K
The 9/11 Run to Remember is a community 5K held in downtown Cartersville, Georgia, on September 12, 2026. The event marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 events and is presented in conjunction with the Cartersville Fire Department and the Cartersville Police Department. It is the sixth annual running of this remembrance event.
The event program includes a post-race remembrance segment with a presentation of the colors by the Cartersville Fire Department Honor Guard and remarks in memory of 9/11. A route map describes a course that starts and finishes at Friendship Plaza, runs along Cherokee Avenue and Erwin Street, includes a segment through Cartersville Fire Department Station #1, and returns to Friendship Plaza. Specific course distances noted in the route description include approximately 1.25 miles on Erwin Street and short segments of about 0.15 miles on Cassville Road.
Registration details include a pre-race fee of $30 and a race day fee of $40, with pre-registration open from February 15, 2026 and closing on September 7, 2026. A virtual "Ghost Runner" option is offered for supporters who cannot attend in person but wish to participate and receive a T-shirt. Pre-race packet pick-up is scheduled for the day before the race at Big Peach Running Co., 402 E. Church St., Suite 107, Cartersville. Race day parking is described around the Bartow County Courthouse at 135 West Cherokee Ave. Proceeds benefit the Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation.
