8 Hours of Brown County
The 8 Hours of Brown County is a weekend trail running event organized by the Indiana Trail Running Association at Brown County State Park, with a base camp at the Recreation Center next to Rally Camp 1 in Nashville, Indiana. This is the association's seventh annual edition.
The event centers on an open 8-hour course on a looped layout. Participants may run, hike, or walk the loops as many times as they wish during the eight hour window. The format is noncompetitive; a small number of awards are given, including a Garmin Challenge award for the male and female participants with the most GPS-recorded mileage.
Course details:
- Main loop about 6 miles of single track trail.
- Short rugged loop about 3 miles.
Course support includes a staffed aid station at the start and finish area and a fill-up station at Rally 1, roughly two miles into the main loop. Participants are asked to bring their own hydration container; cups will be available. Optional weekend camping is offered at the reserved Rally Camp 1 area with informal running opportunities, shared meals, and a campfire. Event access and camping are provided as a membership benefit for ITRA members; non-members may register for running and for weekend camping for a fee. No refunds are provided if the event is canceled. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
