60 Minute Race
The 60 Minute Race takes place at Hopkins Family Park in Francisco, Indiana. This event features a 3-mile distance designation, though the primary format is a timed challenge held on a paved park path. Each lap of the course measures approximately 1.05 miles in length.
Participants have exactly 60 minutes to complete as many laps as possible. Runners and walkers who begin their final lap before the 60 minute time limit expires are permitted to finish that lap. The organizers use a manual tracking system where participants receive a rubber bracelet upon the completion of each lap to monitor their progress.
The event is limited to a maximum of 100 participants. Entry fees include a race shirt, though a registration option without a shirt is also available. A portion of the proceeds from the event benefits Hopkins Family Park.
Instead of traditional trophies or medals, a portion of each entry fee is placed into a communal pot. This money is distributed back to participants at the end of the event based on the number of laps completed. In the event of a tie regarding lap counts, a digital randomizer is used to determine the distribution. The race is held regardless of rain or sunshine.
