About the race
The 18th Annual 5K Walk/Run for Cancer Center is scheduled for October 24, 2026, at 350 Seymour Avenue in Derby, Connecticut. The event is a non-competitive, family friendly walk and run held through the Griffin Hospital neighborhood and has been organized annually since 2009.
The event honors, remembers, and celebrates patients of the Center for Cancer Care. All proceeds are dedicated to providing personalized cancer care and to easing the financial burden faced by Griffin Hospital’s cancer patients during treatment. The event takes place rain or shine.
Registration includes a race t-shirt, with t-shirt size guaranteed for participants who register by October 2. Registration uses pricing periods, including early and regular rates. The event features fundraising for individuals and teams, with awards that recognize top fundraisers and groups, including the William C. Powanda Memorial Award for the top fundraising individual, the Team Synergy Award for the top fundraising team, and the Make It Happen Award for the individual or team that best embodies the event spirit.
