18TH Annual 5K Walk/Run for Cancer Center
The event is the 18th annual 5K walk/run held at 350 Seymour Avenue in Derby, Connecticut. It is a non-competitive, family friendly community event that follows a course through the Griffin Hospital neighborhood and is held rain or shine. The occasion honors, remembers, and celebrates the patients of The Center for Cancer Care.
All proceeds are dedicated to providing personalized cancer care and to easing the financial burden faced by Griffin Hospital’s cancer patients during treatment. Registration includes a race t-shirt and t-shirt size is guaranteed for registrations received by October 2. The event features fundraising leaderboards and recognizes top fundraisers with awards, including the William C. Powanda Memorial Award for the top fundraising individual, the Team Synergy Award for the top fundraising team, and the Make It Happen Award for the individual or team that best embodies the spirit of the 5K.
Additional event features include opportunities for teams, vendor participation, sponsor recognition, and options for donating by mail to the Griffin Hospital Development Fund with attention to the 5K Walk/Run.
