About the race
The 18th Annual 5K Walk/Run for Cancer Center is a community fundraising event held in Derby, Connecticut at 350 Seymour Avenue. Established in 2009, the non-competitive, family-friendly walk/run moves through the Griffin Hospital neighborhood and is presented as a community gathering to honor, remember, and celebrate patients of The Center for Cancer Care. The event is scheduled to take place rain or shine.
All event proceeds are dedicated to providing personalized cancer care and to easing the financial burden faced by Griffin Hospital cancer patients during treatment. The event includes recognition for top fundraisers and teams, with awards such as the William C. Powanda Memorial Award for the top fundraising individual, the Team Synergy Award for the top fundraising team, and the Make It Happen Award for the individual or team that best embodies the event spirit.
Event registration includes a race t-shirt, and t-shirt size is guaranteed for registrations completed by October 2nd. The organizer accepts mailed donations by check to Griffin Hospital Development Fund, Attn: 5K Walk/Run, 130 Division Street, Derby, CT 06418; donors are asked to include a team or individual name in the check memo for crediting purposes.
