18TH Annual 5K Walk/Run for Cancer Center
The event is an annual, non-competitive, family-friendly 5K held in the Griffin Hospital neighborhood at 350 Seymour Avenue, Derby, CT. Celebrating eighteen years since 2009, the occasion honors, remembers, and celebrates patients of The Center for Cancer Care. The event proceeds are dedicated to providing personalized cancer care and to easing the financial burden Griffin's cancer patients face during treatment. The event takes place rain or shine.
Event elements include same-day check in and registration, opening remarks, awards presentations, and fundraising activities. Registration includes a race t-shirt and t-shirt size is guaranteed for registrations received by October 2. Fundraising is an integral part of the event; individual and team awards recognize top fundraisers and those who best embody the event spirit. Named awards include the William C. Powanda Memorial Award for the top fundraising individual, the Team Synergy Award for the top fundraising team, and the Make It Happen Award for outstanding spirit.
