18TH Annual 5K Walk/Run for Cancer Center
The 18th annual event is a non-competitive, family-friendly 5K walk and run held at 350 Seymour Avenue in Derby, Connecticut. Since 2009 the event has taken place in the Griffin Hospital neighborhood to honor, remember, and celebrate patients of The Center for Cancer Care.
Proceeds from the event are dedicated to providing personalized cancer care and to helping ease the financial burden Griffin’s cancer patients face during treatment. Event registration includes a race t-shirt; t-shirt size is guaranteed for registrations completed by September 4.
Fundraising is part of the event structure and awards recognize top fundraisers. Presented awards include the William C. Powanda Memorial Award for the top fundraising individual, the Team Synergy Award for the top fundraising team, and the Make It Happen Award for the individual or team that best embodies the event’s spirit. Donations by check can be mailed to Griffin Hospital Development Fund, Attn: 5K Walk/Run, 130 Division Street, Derby, CT 06418; include the team or individual name in the check memo for proper credit.
