5K at the Fair, Durango
The inaugural 5K at the Fair is scheduled for August 8, 2026, at the La Plata County Fairgrounds in Durango, Colorado. The event uses a run/walk format and covers 3.1 Miles on an out and back course along the Animas River Trail.
Participants begin at the fairgrounds lawn next to the Extension Building and proceed south on the Animas River Trail for 1.55 miles to the fire department, then return to finish at the fairgrounds at the original start location. The event is designated as a Zero Waste event; participants are encouraged to carry their own water.
There will be no chip timing and no awards. All participants will receive giveaways. Registration opens May 15, 2026, and closes on the day of the event; the registration fee is $30.00. All proceeds from the event will benefit La Plata County 4-H.
La Plata County 4-H states its purpose as providing a supportive setting for young people to develop into competent, caring, and responsible individuals through volunteerism and life skills learning.
