5 Peaks Trail Running - Heart Lake, Ontario
This event is the fifth race of the 5 Peaks Ontario Trail Running Series and takes place at Heart Lake Conservation Park. The conservation area is named for a spring-fed kettle lake that is roughly shaped like a heart.
Shaded trails run through the park and include sections that showcase fall colours. The lake is stocked annually with rainbow trout and is popular with anglers.
Distances and course options:
- 3 km Kid's Run
- 7.5 km Sport Run or Hike
- 14.6 km Enduro Run or Hike
- 22.5 km Grit Run
Maps, elevation profiles and aid station locations are provided for the courses. Race distances and routes may change based on trail conditions up to the day of the event. The event operates cup-free; water and electrolyte drink are available at the start, finish and at one or more aid stations. Participants planning to be out longer than an hour are advised to carry a receptacle for liquids and calories.
Facilities and rules: washrooms are available at the start/finish area. Parking is free but limited with guidance to use the Birchmount parking area near the Wild Wetland Splash and Pool. For safety and course management, dogs, headphones, strollers or baby joggers and nordic walking poles are not permitted on the race course.
