About the race
The 5 Peaks - Heart Lake event is the fifth race in the 5 Peaks Ontario Trail Running Series. It takes place within Heart Lake Conservation Park, a protected area named after its spring-fed kettle lake that is shaped like a heart. The course features shaded trails that showcase the local fall foliage.
The event offers several distances to accommodate different levels of experience and goals:
- 1 km (Free Kids Run)
- 3 km (Kids Run)
- 7.5 km (Sport Run or Hike)
- 14.6 km (Enduro Run or Hike)
- 22.5 km (Grit Run)
This is a cup-free event. No disposable cups are provided at the start, finish, or aid stations. Participants are required to carry their own hydration vessels to access the water and electrolyte drinks available on the course.
Facilities at the venue include washrooms located at the start and finish area. Free parking is available at the Birchmount parking area, though space is limited. Due to the technical nature of the trails and for participant safety, dogs, headphones, strollers, and Nordic walking poles are prohibited on the race courses. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as the top three finishers in each age category for every distance.
