5 Peaks Trail Running - Canmore Nordic Centre #1
Located at the Canmore Nordic Centre in Alberta, this event is part of the 5 Peaks Trail Running Series. As the host venue for the 1988 Winter Olympic nordic events, the Centre features a professional network of singletrack and double track trails. The race course loops through lower and upper trail sections, offering panoramic views of the Canadian Rockies.
The event offers various distances for different participation levels:
- Kids - 1 km
- Kids - 3 km
- Sport (Run or Hike) - 7.1 km
- Enduro (Run or Hike) - 16.1 km
- Grit (Run) - 22 km
The course includes steep hill climbs, technical singletrack, and significant elevation gain. The start and finish area is located in the main stadium. Per Canmore Nordic Centre policy, all participants in the Sport, Enduro, and Grit categories are required to carry bear spray. While children in the 1 km and 3 km events are not required to carry it, additional volunteers equipped with bear spray will be stationed along those routes.
The competition is a cup-free event. No cups are provided at aid stations or the finish line, so participants must carry their own hydration vessels. Restroom facilities are available at the venue. Parking is available in the main or overflow areas near the Day Lodge; however, a Kananaskis Pass is required and is not included in the race registration. Dogs, headphones, strollers, and nordic walking poles are prohibited on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
