5 Peaks - Canmore Nordic Centre #1

The event is held at the Canmore Nordic Centre, which hosted the nordic and biathlon events of the 1988 Winter Olympics. The venue offers a network of singletrack and double track trails with panoramic views of the Canadian Rockies.

Race distances include:

  • 1 km Kids
  • 3 km Kids
  • 7.1 km Sport : Run or Hike
  • 16.1 km Enduro : Run or Hike
  • 22 km Grit : Run

The course loops through lower and upper trail sections and features steep climbs, technical singletrack, and flowy sections. The start/finish area is on the main stadium and provides a gathering atmosphere with views of the surrounding ridges.

Practical details: washroom facilities are available near the start/finish area. Park in the main or overflow lots by the Day Lodge; a Kananaskis Pass is required for parking. Spectators are welcome. The event is cup-free; water and electrolyte drink are available at the start/finish and at one or more aid stations. Participants in the Sport, Enduro, and Grit distances are required to carry bear spray; children in the 1 km and 3 km events are not required to carry bear spray and additional volunteers will carry spray on those courses.

Awards: all finishers in Sport, Enduro, and Grit receive a finisher swag item; awards are presented to top finishers by gender and age category and must be picked up at the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
