11th Annual 5-O 5K Donut Run/Walk
The 11th Annual 5-O 5K Donut Run/Walk is a charitable community event held in Collinsville, Illinois. Organized by the Collinsville Police Department, the race serves as a fundraiser for Special Olympics Illinois. All proceeds from the event support programs for athletes with intellectual disabilities.
The course begins and ends at the Collinsville Police Department located at 200 West Clay Street. The route is consistent with previous years and features an initial section with hills before transitioning to a flat surface. Participants may choose to run or walk the following distances:
- 5 km Run/Walk
- 5 km Virtual Run
This event features a unique time-deduction mechanic. There are three stations along the route providing both water and donuts. For every donut a participant consumes at these stations, one minute is deducted from their total race time. Professional timing services are provided by Toolen's Running Start.
Awards include trophies for the top overall male and female runners. Additionally, medals are presented to the top three finishers in each age category for both male and female participants. Participants who register before the designated July 10 deadline are eligible to receive a race t-shirt. Parking is available in several nearby municipal lots, including those at Clay Street and Center Street, Main Street and Seminary Street, and the 300 block of West Clay Street.
