4th of July Mini-Marathon (2.6 miles)
The event is a community one way fun run of 2.6 miles that follows the route of the Monmouth Independence Fourth of July Parade. The course is described as mostly downhill, with an overall elevation drop of 47 feet. The route starts near Monmouth City Park and finishes on Main Street in Independence. There is no shuttle service back to the start line.
Registration fees vary by age and date: Ages 9 and under are charged $10 until June 30. Ages 10 and up are charged $20 until June 15, $25 from June 16 until July 3, and $30 on the day of the race. In person registration is available on July 3 at Anytime Fitness in Independence and day of race registration is available at the outside of Monmouth Fitness Club in Monmouth.
Bib pickup is available on July 3 at Anytime Fitness, 1399 Monmouth St., Independence, and on July 4 at the outside of Monmouth Fitness Club on the side of the building, 165 Main St. W, Monmouth.
Finishers receive a medal. Overall winners and age group winners will be posted online after the event. There is no awards ceremony at the finish line, but ribbons are provided to top finishers in each age group. Results will be available at RunSignUp.
Age groups begin at 9 and under, continue 10-14 and 15-19, and proceed in five year increments through 75-79 and 80 and over. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
