The 40 for FORTEY is a community running and walking event held at the Toowoomba Showgrounds in Glenvale, Queensland. The event serves as a fundraiser, with all proceeds donated to the Queensland Police Legacy Scheme. Participants can choose between different distances and participation formats, all taking place on a 4 km lap course within the showgrounds.
Registration options include:
- 40 km SOLO: Individuals complete 10 laps of the circuit.
- 40 km TEAM: Teams of 2 to 10 participants complete 10 laps in a relay-style format.
- 40 km SCHOOL: A specific team category for schools completing 10 laps in a relay-style format.
- 4 km Remembrance Event: A single lap course for individuals, friends, and families.
The course is pram friendly, and participants are permitted to either run or walk. For the 40 km SOLO event, participants must be at least 15 years old. The 4 km and team events require participants to be 10 years or older, though children under 10 may join for free if accompanied by a registered adult.
Specific prizes are awarded for the fastest team and the best dressed participants in both the 4 km and 40 km distances. The event organizer retains the authority to delay or cancel the proceedings in the event of adverse weather conditions to ensure participant safety.
