4 Town 5K - Four Town Fair, Somers CT
The 4 Town 5K is an annual road race held at the Four Town Fairground, 56 Egypt Road, Somers, CT. The event described is the 25th running of the race. Race registration includes a collectible finisher medal by Bumpa Built and a T-shirt, and each registered runner receives complimentary admission to the Four Town Fair. All proceeds benefit the Somers Recreation Department.
The course is 5k (3.1 miles) and is USATF certified (CT19030JHP). The route is generally flat with two short inclines and is described as nearly devoid of tangents. Water is provided at the halfway mark and at the finish. Participants must complete the course within 45 minutes; the course reopens to normal vehicle traffic after that interval. Timing is fully automatic and based on gun time; an RFID timing tag is attached to the back of the race bib and should remain undamaged.
Event logistics specify online registration only with a stated entry fee of $35. The race begins and ends inside the fairgrounds and parking is available at the Four Town Fair. Volunteers, including the UConn women’s ultimate frisbee team, assist with check in and hydration. Jogging strollers are permitted when positioned at the rear of the field and the child is registered and wears an approved helmet.
