Independence Day Run in Woodbury
The 4 on the Fourth is an annual running event held on Independence Day at Colby Lake Park in Woodbury, Minnesota. The featured run takes participants on a paved, lollipop-style course that travels through local parks and natural scenery.
The primary route begins at Colby Lake Park and heads north through the Wilms Lake area. Runners encounter a hill around Summit Pointe Park before returning through a tunnel to the finish line at the original park location. In addition to the main distance, there is a dedicated event for children ages 4 to 12.
Available distances include:
- 4 mile run
- 1 km Kids Firecracker Fun Run
This is a self-supported race, and there are no aid stations along the course. Participants are responsible for bringing their own water and nutrition. The race uses a cashless registration system, requiring a credit card and mobile phone for any on-site sign-ups. Results are recorded using chip timing located on the race bibs.
Facilities at Colby Lake Park include two parking lots, with additional overflow parking available at the nearby Valley Crossing Elementary School. The post-race area features music and light snacks, followed by an awards ceremony for the top three male and female finishers in the overall category. All participants in the youth event receive a finisher's medallion. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
