4 on the Fourth : event overview
The event takes place on July 4, 2026 in Woodbury, Minnesota at Colby Lake Park (9715 Valley Creek Rd). It includes two distances:
- 4 miles
- 1 km (Kids 1K)
The Kids 1K is for children ages 4 to 12 and is run on a fully paved loop trail. All Kids 1K participants receive a bib and a finisher's medallion; volunteers will be stationed along the course and light refreshments will be available after the run.
Course, timing and awards
The 4-mile course follows a paved, lollipop-style trail. The route goes north past Wilms Lake rollers, climbs a hill near Summit Pointe Park, and returns under a tunnel to Colby Lake Park for the finish. Timing uses gun time with chips on the back of bibs; bibs must be visible and pinned. QR codes will be available at the finish for immediate results. Overall male and female 1st, 2nd and 3rd place awards will be given.
Logistics, rules and safety
The race is cashless; day-of registration is online and requires a credit card and cell phone. Packet pickup will be available on race day and a pre-race pickup is planned the week before. There are two parking lots at Colby Lake Park and overflow parking at Valley Crossing Elementary School. There are no aid stations - participants must carry their own water and nutrition. The trail is open to the public, pets are discouraged, roads remain open to traffic, and organizers may cancel or delay the event for inclement weather; there are no refunds.
