Event information
The 3H Trail Half Marathon and Dahlgren Heritage Rail Trail 50K take place on August 8, 2026 in King George, Virginia. Both races start and finish at 4224 University Drive, UMW-Dahlgren campus. Entry fees listed are $65 for the half marathon and $90 for the 50K; prices increase after December 7, 2025. The half marathon is open to ages 14 to 99. Time limits are 4 hours for the half marathon and 8 hours for the 50K.

Course and race logistics
Both courses run almost entirely on the Dahlgren Railroad Heritage Trail, a converted railroad bed. The trail surface includes dirt, gravel, grass, and pine needles. The route is mostly flat with some gradual inclines and declines and is heavily shaded by trees. Some sections have roots and bog boards; extra caution is advised there.
The 50K has seven aid stations spaced about every 4 miles, with water, Gatorade and food at each station; PB&J sandwiches are available at miles 12, 19 and 27.7. The half marathon has aid near miles 3.3, 6.5, 9.8 and 12.2. The event is cupless - runners may carry their own hydration or use a reusable SpeedCup provided at packet pick up.
Bag drop is available near the start with two drop-bag delivery locations. Previewing the trail requires a free trail use permit.
Awards
Both races offer cash awards for the top three overall men and women and age-group awards. The 50K has a course record bonus for times faster than 3:10:26 (male) and 3:39:26 (female). Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
