17.76 mile Heritage Trail Freedom Walk
This is a walking event that begins with a history tour of colonial Philadelphia and continues as a scenic route on both sides of the Delaware River along the Delaware River Heritage Trail. It is part of a weekend of activities connected to the Delaware River Heritage Trail and the 2026 celebration of America’s 250th anniversary. The program includes other outdoor activities such as cycling and running.
The route starts and finishes at Franklin Square in Philadelphia. The walking portion begins with a four mile loop through historic sites in central Philadelphia and then proceeds onto the waterfront and regional trail network. Surface is paved and public transit access includes SEPTA and PATCO. Parking and exact meeting points are to be determined. Refunds are available up to seven days before the event.
