Girls on the Run of the High Country 5K
The Girls on the Run of the High Country 5K is held twice each year as the culminating event for the ten week Girls on the Run curriculum. The event is open to the general public as well as current and past program participants, coaches and families. It functions as a community celebration tied to the season-long curriculum.
The running route is an out and back course on a paved surface with no road crossings. Dogs and strollers are permitted on the course. A Race Village opens before the event with warm ups and family activities, and bib pick up and on-site registration are available for participants who are not enrolled in the current season.
Registration has tiered pricing during the season and participants who register by November 16 will receive an event t-shirt; registrations after that date are not guaranteed a shirt and shirts may be available for purchase at the race. Participants in the current Girls on the Run and Heart & Sole season do not need separate 5K registration because the race fee is included with their program.
Organizers aim to hold the event in a range of weather conditions but may cancel if road conditions are unsafe or if lightning or ice are predicted; a final decision will be made by 11:00 am in the case of severe weather. Registration fees are treated as a donation to the Girls on the Run scholarship fund and are nonrefundable; with written request, fees may be transferable to a future 5K.
