Maroubra Fun Run and Oktoberfest
The Maroubra Fun Run and Oktoberfest is a community event held at Arthur Byrne Reserve in South Maroubra on the fourth Sunday in October. The day combines a timed fun run with market stalls and an Oktoberfest area offering food and festivities.
The running program uses a 4 km out-and-back loop that starts from the South Maroubra Surf Life Saving Club. Runners completing the 8 km distance complete two laps of the 4 km course.

The course follows local streets and paths: leaving Arthur Byrne Reserve onto Fitzgerald Avenue, turning into Malabar Road, passing through the Beauchamp Road roundabout, using a shared tree-lined path, then climbing Manwaring Avenue (locally called Heartbreak Hill), crossing Broome Street, and returning to Bernie Kelly Drive and the reserve for the turnaround and finish. When 4 km competitors return they peel off to the finish; 8 km competitors continue for a second lap.
Trophies and prizes are awarded to individuals, teams, and schools, and every participant receives a certificate. A route map was produced in 2013 with assistance from Randwick City Council.
