About the race
GONG5000 is a 5 km track race held at the Illawarra Criterium Track in Unanderra, NSW. The event uses a closed, traffic-free criterium loop that is flat and built for speed. The 5 km race is run as five laps of the 1 km circuit, with official chip timing and online results. Entry is open to all ages.
The event includes prize money and awards for top male and female finishers and age categories (12-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60+). There is also a 2 km kids race and an elite race featuring high-level competitors. Event amenities and atmosphere include a DJ, MC, food vendors, woodfire pizza, a recovery station, drinks, giveaways, and a community area for spectators. Spectator access is free.
Organisers offer a free 10 week race program with coached sessions at Beaton Park Athletics Track; full program details are to come. Logistics note: all race tickets are non refundable and non transferable.
