Stavanger Marathon
The Stavanger Marathon is an annual running event held in the city center of Stavanger. The event takes place on the last Saturday of August and transforms the city into a communal celebration. The courses guide participants through the nearby surroundings of Stavanger, offering views of idyllic lakes and fjords.
Participants run on a combination of asphalt and gravel surfaces. The event features multiple distances to accommodate different preferences:
- Marathon
- Half Marathon
- 5 km
- Children's race
The 5 km race starts on the bicycle path near Mariero station, which is easily accessible by train. For the other distances, the main activities are centered in Stavanger Sentrum.
Registration is open for all distances, and there are specific age-based discounts for younger participants on certain routes. Specifically, there is a half-price entry for runners aged 10-19 on the 5 km and for runners aged 15-24 on the Half Marathon. Participants have the option to change their registration to a shorter distance through the runner's personal profile. Bib numbers can be collected at the Radisson Blu Atlantic Hotel on the Friday before the race or on the morning of the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
