Acea Run Rome The Marathon
Run Rome The Marathon is an athletic event held in the Italian capital. The event features multiple participation categories, allowing runners to experience the city's historic center. The traditional marathon distance covers 42.195 km on a course with a minimum elevation of 8.1 meters and a maximum altitude of 31 meters above sea level.
The marathon route starts at the Fori Imperiali, with the Colosseum as a backdrop. Participants pass several historic landmarks, including:
- Piazza Venezia and the Vittoriano
- Circo Massimo
- Lungotevere
- Castel Sant’Angelo
- Viale della Conciliazione and Saint Peter's Basilica
Additional Events
Beyond the full marathon, the event includes different formats:
- Run4Rome Relay: A relay race for teams of four people covering the total distance of 42.195 km. The four individual legs are approximately 11 km, 12.5 km, 8 km, and 10.695 km. One leg is accessible to participants aged 16 and older.
- Acea Water Fun Run: A non-competitive 5 km city run held on the Saturday before the main marathon. This event is open to participants of all ages without the requirement of a competitive medical certificate.
The event organizers provide official training plans and host collective training sessions called "Get Ready" in the months leading up to the race. An Expo Village is located near the Circo Massimo (Metro B stop), serving as a hub for visitors and participants in the days preceding the competition.
