Mother's Day Classic - Darwin
The Mother's Day Classic at Garramilla, East Point Reserve in Darwin is a community walk and run supporting breast and ovarian cancer research. The event offers these distances:
- Walk: 2 km
- Walk: 5 km
- Run: 5 km (one race wave is listed as sold out and another 5 km wave is scheduled)
Participants in the Embrace & Honour walks are invited to observe a minute of silence at the start line to recognise those affected by breast or ovarian cancer.
The course runs along the beachfront areas of East Point Reserve and is described as wheelchair and pram friendly. The Event Village is located within the reserve and includes grassed areas, food and coffee vendors, water stations on course, and various partner activations such as smoothie bikes and a cool down experience. Attendees are asked to use reusable water bottles to support sustainability. The event uses cashless payments via EFTPOS Air.
Bib collection is available both the day before at the rotunda in East Point Reserve and on event day from the Event Village; participants are advised to allow time for collection. A Kids Zone offers craft, bubble entertainment, face painting, balloon animals and lawn games. Raffle prizes and roaming entertainment are also listed.
