Paint Palestine Pink : Palestine, Texas
Paint Palestine Pink is an annual walk and run held in Palestine, Texas, that raises funds to support local cancer diagnostics and care. The event supports provision of mammograms for uninsured and underinsured women and men of Palestine, Anderson County, and surrounding areas, and the organizing foundation now provides grants for diagnostics and treatment for all cancers.
The nonprofit was founded in August 2010 and has funded diagnostic testing since then. All funds raised remain in the community; since 2010 the organization reports $304,800 provided for diagnostic and medical procedure grants. The foundation is run by a board of directors and community volunteers, and it does not pay executive salaries.
Event activities are centered at Texas Oncology, 3415 S Loop 256, Palestine, TX 75801, with a packet pickup the Friday before the race and race-day events the following Saturday in early October. Distances offered at the event include:
- 10.5 mile
- 5K
- 1 mile
The event schedule typically includes vendor displays, a brief opening segment, multiple distance starts, and a closing ceremony when the final participant crosses the finish line. Sponsors from the community support the event and the foundation’s work to keep services local. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
