About the race
The Meia Maratona do Douro 2026 takes place on May 24, 2026, in the Douro Vinhateiro region of Portugal, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The event passes through the municipalities of Peso da Régua, Lamego, and Armamar.
Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- Meia Maratona (21.097 km): A competitive race with official timing and a certified course by the Portuguese Athletics Federation. Participation is restricted to individuals born in 2008 or earlier.
- Caminhada (5 km): A non-competitive recreational walk open to all ages.
The Meia Maratona has a time limit of 3 hours, with the course officially closing at 12:00. Age categories for the competitive race range from Seniors (18-39) to Veterans VI (60+). Official hydration stations are positioned at the 5 km, 10 km, and 15 km marks, providing water and isotonic drinks, with additional refreshments at the finish line.
Participants receive a technical t-shirt and, for the half marathon finishers, an official medal. The organization provides wardrobe services at the start and finish area and medical assistance throughout the course. Registration is handled online, with registration fees increasing as the event date approaches. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
