All Inclusive Community Colour Run
The All Inclusive Community Colour Run is a free, family-focused colour run for young people with disability and their families, organised by Empower Care Solutions Hub and Alleviate Support. The event takes place at Batt Street, South Penrith, on grass and hard court surfaces that are flat and accessible for wheelchairs, walkers and prams.
Participants move through a non-competitive fun run in separate heats for younger and older groups. At stations along the course coloured cornstarch powder is thrown onto participants; the powder is described as non-toxic but may irritate eyes or airways, so faces are not targeted and participants are asked to keep mouths closed while running through stations. A quiet space is available away from music and powder for those who need a break.
Onsite activities include a warm-up dance and stretch, games between heats such as dodge ball and tug of war, face painting, temporary tattoos, bubble machines, music and a photo spot. Each participant receives a ribbon and there are lucky dip prizes. Food options sold separately on the day include a sausage sizzle, lolly bags and fairy floss; water is available and attendees are advised to bring a drink bottle.
Free parking is available on site and the organisers welcome support workers or family members with a booked ticket. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
