Run Rome The Marathon
Run Rome The Marathon is an athletic event held in the Italian capital, featuring a course that passes through historical sites and iconic monuments. The main event is a full marathon covering the classic distance of 42.195 km. The route starts at the Via dei Fori Imperiali with the Colosseum in the background, passes the Vittoriano in Piazza Venezia, the Circus Maximus, and runs along the Lungotevere. Participants also pass Castel Sant’Angelo and approach St. Peter’s Basilica via Via della Conciliazione.
In addition to the main marathon, the event includes several other participation options:
- Run4Rome Relay: A relay race for teams of four people. Each member covers one of four stages of varying lengths (11 km, 12.5 km, 8 km, and 10.695 km) to complete the full marathon distance. This program is linked to charity initiatives.
- Acea Water Fun Run: A non-competitive 5 km city run held on the Saturday before the main marathon. It is open to all ages, and no competitive medical certificate is required.
The event village, known as the Expo Village, is located at the Circus Maximus, approximately 50 meters from the Metro B station.
