Format, awards and rules
The course features a themed "zombie" setup. At the sound of a siren, participants walk, run, or crawl through the course while interacting with costumed zombies. Each participant begins with three lives, represented by flags. The event is described as a fun run and is not a timed race.
Awards for the 5K include medals for the overall top five male and top five female finishers. 5K t-shirts are distributed after the race; the t-shirt awarded depends on the number of lives remaining at finish. Kids Run participants receive finisher medals.
Age restrictions: the Kids Run is for ages 5 to 12, and a guardian may run with a child. The 5K is open to ages 10 and up. Individuals designated as zombies must be age 12 or older; ages 12 to 14 must have a guardian participate or be near the young zombies designated area.
