Zombie 5K Run - Cherokee
Scheduled for October 24, 2026 at Cherokee High School Track, 86 Elk Crossing Ln, Cherokee, NC 28719, USA. The event is a 5K on a measured 3.1 mile course and offers both a traditional 5K option and an optional Zombie Challenge.
In the Zombie Challenge, participants start with flag "lives." Zombies are stationed in designated Zombie Zones along the course and will attempt to take flags as runners pass through those zones. Zombies may only take flags; no grabbing, pushing, tackling, or blocking of runners is permitted. Runners may dodge zombies but must remain on the course. Zombies will only chase within designated Zombie Zones and physical contact with zombies is prohibited.
If a runner loses all flags they may continue and finish the 5K but are considered infected. Finishing with at least one flag remaining is recorded as a survivor. Multiple Zombie Zones are placed along the course. Costumes are encouraged. Race awards are part of the event.
The event charges a registration fee of $25.00. Registration opens on 2026-09-25 and closes on 2026-10-24. All proceeds benefit the Cherokee High School Senior Class and Cross Country Team. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
