The Zaman Run Walk Picnic
The Zaman Hope for Humanity Run Walk Picnic is a community event on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Ford Field Park in Dearborn, Michigan, honoring 30 years of Hope for Humanity. The day combines organized running and walking events with a family-focused picnic and activities.
Distances and races:
- 5K run
- 5K walk
- 100 meter Tots Trot for ages 2 to 4
- 3/4 mile Kids Run for ages 5 to 12
The 5K route follows the Rouge River Gateway Trail, passing wooded paths near the University of Michigan Dearborn and alongside the historic grounds of the Henry Ford Estate. The run includes chip timing, an event shirt, a finisher medal, and prizes for top finishers. Kids’ races also include finisher medals and access to the picnic.
The event includes accessibility and inclusion elements. In partnership with Ainsley’s Angels in Michigan, volunteer runners are paired with differently abled participants for the 5K run. The Let’s Move! Youth Running Program offers an eight week training program for 8 to 11 year olds that leads to a finish at the Run Walk Picnic.
The picnic features food service with hamburgers, falafel sandwiches, frozen treats, chips, cookies, and drinks, plus activities such as pony rides, a petting zoo, pumpkin decorating, basketball, and tug of war. On-site registration and packet pick up are available and a light breakfast is served. Free parking is available near the park with accessible parking reserved near the main entrance; volunteers and local authorities will direct traffic.
