Event Details

The Youngstown Ultra Trail Classic will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026. This is the 22nd edition of the event.

Distances

The event offers two trail running distances:

  • 25K
  • 50K

Course and Location

The race takes place in Mill Creek Park in Youngstown, Ohio. The park is the second largest urban park in the United States. The course is approximately 95% single track terrain, passing by large mature trees, lakes, and waterfalls. The route features a mixture of short steep hills and runnable terrain.

The 25K course consists of one loop around Mill Creek Park, with approximately 1,397 feet of elevation gain per loop. The 50K is two loops of the same course.

The course begins at the Bresko Pavilion at the Wick Recreation Area and travels clockwise. It passes a mill and goes through the Covered Bridge to an aid station. The route then circles Newport Lake counter-clockwise before returning to the Covered Bridge aid station and heading back to the finish. The course will be marked with white ribbons, white pie plates on trees, and painted arrows on the ground.

Aid Stations and Logistics

There are two aid stations: one at the Covered Bridge (visited twice per 25K loop) and one at the Start/Finish line. Aid stations provide cut fruit, sandwiches, snacks, water, Gatorade, and other drinks. Feminine products are available.

Packet pickup begins in the parking lot at the Wick Recreation Area. Toilets are available at a recreation center, a golf office, and via portable units.

Participant Information

The total event is capped at 250 runners (125 per distance). Race day signups are available for the 2026 event. All participants receive a running shirt during check-in. Finishers of either distance receive a running visor and a bumper sticker. Two organized training runs are scheduled for June 13 and July 18, 2026.
