Youngstown Ultra Trail Classic
The Youngstown Ultra Trail Classic is the 22nd annual ultramarathon held at Wick Recreation Area in Mill Creek Park, Youngstown, Ohio. The event offers two official race distances:
- 25K one loop around Mill Creek Park
- 50K two loops around Mill Creek Park
The 2026 course returns to its roots as predominantly single-track trail. The route is about 95% trail and includes rocks, roots, short steep hills, remote seldom-used sections, and a rugged stream crossing. There is approximately 1,397 feet of elevation gain per 25K loop and only one road section.
The loop begins on the west side of the park at the Wick Recreation Area - Bresko Pavilion and travels around Mill Creek Park passing the Lily Pond, Pioneer Pavilion, Monkey Hills, the Boardwalk over the gorge, the tall waterfall at the Mill, and the Covered Bridge. The Covered Bridge aid station is visited twice per 25K loop; 50K runners visit it four times in total. The course is marked with ribbons, signs at turns, and white paint arrows on the ground.
Support includes two aid stations (Covered Bridge and the start/finish), volunteers, packaged items and mostly fresh fruit, recently made sandwiches, hot cooked foods, water, Gatorade and other drinks. Feminine products are available at both aid stations.
Registration is capped at 250 runners (125 per distance). Race day signups will continue in 2026. Transfers are not permitted; deferments are allowed for pregnancy and postpartum issues. Registrations are non-refundable. Packet pickup is in the Wick Recreation Area parking lot near the playground. Flush toilets, porta-johns and pit toilets are available. The finish is located uphill at the Bresko Pavilion. Finisher awards include a visor, a long sleeve tech running shirt at check-in, and a finisher bumper sticker. To be a finisher a participant must start at the correct time, complete the full prescribed course in the correct direction under their own power, and complete the registered distance within the event cutoff.
