Youlgrave Fell Race: The Pommie Panter
The Pommie Panter is a fell race in Youlgrave, Derbyshire, taking place on Sunday 17 May 2026. The course is about 5.8 miles / 876 ft (9.3 km / 267 m) and uses public footpaths across rough trails, open fields and short sections of country lane. Limestone descents can become slippery and there is a swamped section. Cattle graze on much of the route.
The race is held under Fell Running Association rules and is partially marked and marshalled. Navigation skills or local knowledge are an advantage and a course recce is recommended. The organisers limit entries for safety and parking; entry is by pre-entry only with a fee of £6. All profits are given to Youlgrave Parish Council for village facilities.
Facilities and practical notes include parking at Alport Lane Playing Fields (venue for registration), three toilet blocks in the village and at Coldwell End, and water available at the finish served in paper cups. Prizes include overall and age category medals plus special Bugle medals for first male and first female finishers within the Bugle delivery area. Local amenities near the finish include pubs, a bakery and a village shop. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
