Youlgrave Fell Race: The Pommie Panter
The Pommie Panter is a fell race in Youlgrave, Derbyshire, organised under Fell Running Association rules and licence. The route is about 5.8 miles / 9.3 km with approximately 876 ft / 267 m of climb. Terrain includes rough trails, open fields, short sections of country lane, low level technical ground, limestone descents that can become slippery, and a swamp. Parts of the route are on grazing land and encounters with cattle are possible. The course is partially marked and marshalled; some navigation and local knowledge may be an advantage.
The event is the third edition and has a minimum age of 16. Venue and main parking are at Alport Lane Playing Fields, Youlgrave (grid reference SK213644), with additional parking available at Coldwell End and elsewhere in the village. Entry is available by pre-entry and on the day where space permits; the entry fee is £6 and entries are limited due to parking and route restrictions. Registration and number collection take place at the playing fields. All profits are donated to Youlgrave Parish Council for village facilities. Water is provided at the finish and there are toilet blocks in the village and at the playing fields. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
