Yorkshire Reservoir Dogs
Yorkshire Reservoir Dogs is a trail event with waterside scenery that passes seven named reservoirs on routes devised by the organiser. The longer route also includes Eccup reservoir. The course goes through Stainburn Forest and past Almscliffe Crag.
Distances are offered across multiple trail lengths:
- 13 miles (half marathon) - 1400 ft climb
- 20 miles - 1900 ft climb
- 32 miles (ultramarathon) - 3500 ft climb
The event has a minimum age of 18 and a maximum field limit of 200 entrants. Registration takes place at The Bridge Church, Cattle Market Street, Otley. Checkpoints on course provide water, coke, energy bars and crisps. All ultramarathon entrants are supplied with a tracker; runners in shorter distances can hire a tracker for a fee. There will be tape, flags and signs on the route, but participants are responsible for navigation.
A mandatory kit list applies to all distances and random kit checks will be carried out on course; failure to carry required items may result in disqualification. Dogs are permitted to run subject to specific event rules, but dogs are not allowed inside the church. Finishers receive a medal and an event T-shirt; hot food and refreshments, including vegan and gluten free options, are available at the finish.
