YMCA of Washington County Triathlon
The YMCA of Washington County Triathlon is a multi-sport event held in Washington, Iowa. This inaugural event features a course that begins and ends at the Washington YMCA. Participants can choose between two primary event categories:
- Individual Triathlon - A full course completed by a single athlete.
- Team Triathlon - A relay format where participants complete the course as a group.
The competition begins with a 300-yard swim held in the indoor aquatic center at the Washington YMCA, which offers a controlled environment for the first leg. Following the swim, the race transitions to a 13-mile bike course located on the Kewash Trail. This segment is an out-and-back route characterized by its flat surface.
The final leg of the event is a 5K run. The run course departs from the YMCA and travels through Sunset Park before returning to the facility for the finish.
