Event Overview
The YMCA HKD5K is the third annual edition of a community walk and run event held in Covington, Louisiana. The competition takes place at the West St. Tammany YMCA and is open to all participants, including walkers, joggers, and runners. The event utilizes chip timing to provide accurate results for scoring and age group awards.
Course and Distances
The race routes start and finish at the local YMCA facility. The course takes participants through the neighboring community of Terra Bella. Available distances include:
- 1 mile
- 5K
The event is divided into a Youth Division for those age 12 and under, and an Open Division for participants aged 13 and older. Specialized categories are also available for Ainsley's Angels Riders and Runners.
Amenities and Activities
A supervised KIDZONE is provided free of charge for children while their guardians participate in the race. Following the running events, the "Healthy Kids Day" festivities take place on-site. Participants have access to various facility amenities, including the swimming pool and water slide.
Registration completed by April 30th includes a race t-shirt. Early packet pick-up is scheduled for the day prior to the race at the West St. Tammany YMCA. Financial proceeds from the event support YMCA financial assistance programs for memberships, youth sports, summer camps, and swimming lessons.
